Achieving a healthy body weight is one of the most significant steps you can take for your long-term overall health. Yet, for many, traditional dieting and exercise alone are not enough to treat chronic weight management issues.
Wisconsin Institute of Plastic Surgery offers prescription medical weight loss with GLP-1. GLP-1 is a prescription, anti-diabetic medication that has been FDA-approved for weight loss. If you are struggling to lose weight via traditional methods, this might be the solution for you. Our medical weight loss program acknowledges that weight gain and obesity are complex health challenges that require professional support. We offer prescription medications as a safe, effective tool to help you lose weight and sustain your results as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Prescription weight loss is a medically supervised approach that incorporates FDA-approved prescription medications, such as GLP-1 agonists (like those approved for chronic weight management) or combination drugs like phentermine-topiramate. These prescription drugs work by affecting the body's metabolism and regulating food intake and appetite. When combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle changes, these treatments can help you lose weight more effectively than diet and exercise alone.
GLP-1 is a Glucagon-like peptide 1, FDA-approved weekly subcutaneous injection medication indicated for weight loss. GLP-1 works by slowing gastric motility and emptying, making you feel full for a longer period of time. People also report fewer food cravings. As with anything, individual results will vary and are not guaranteed. Results are enhanced with a healthy diet and exercise.

Your journey begins with a detailed, confidential consultation with one of our experienced providers. This is not a surgical procedure. We will review your full health history, current body weight, and any weight-related health problems, such as high blood pressure. Based on this information, we determine if you are a candidate for prescription weight loss medications. If appropriate, we will prescribe the right medication and dosage, then provide ongoing guidance on nutrition and healthy eating plans. Regular follow-up appointments monitor your progress, manage any potential side effects, and ensure the program is adjusted to your needs.
We believe that true beauty comes from within, and we’re here to help you reveal the most vibrant version of yourself.

Prescription weight loss programs are specifically designed to treat overweight and obesity in adults. These are chronic health challenges often linked to complex biological and hormonal factors. By helping people lose weight, this treatment plan can significantly improve or prevent various serious health problems, including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and certain cardiovascular risks. It focuses on reducing body fat and improving metabolic markers for enhanced overall health.

Prescription weight-loss medications work systemically by influencing appetite signals, blood sugar regulation, and fat storage throughout the body. The result is a reduction in overall body fat and a healthier body weight, benefiting all major organs.
The primary benefit is achieving significant, sustainable weight loss that can be challenging to achieve otherwise. Successfully reducing your weight often leads to lower blood pressure, improved blood sugar control, and increased energy for daily life.
Patients often find the medication helps reduce cravings and control food intake, making it easier to stick to a healthy eating plan. Ultimately, this comprehensive approach supports not only physical health but also improved mental health and greater confidence.

You are likely a candidate if you have a BMI that meets the criteria for being overweight or obese and have struggled to lose weight through diet and exercise alone. It is important to discuss your full health history, including any personal or family history of specific conditions, with our providers. While these treatments are effective, they are not suitable for everyone, particularly those with certain rare genetic disorders or some health conditions. There is no physical downtime or recovery period when starting a prescription weight-loss program. The focus is entirely on aftercare and lifestyle changes. The most crucial part of aftercare involves regular monitoring, committing to a healthy diet, and increasing physical activity to help burn calories. Patients must take their prescription drugs exactly as directed and maintain open communication with their provider about any side effects or progress to ensure the greatest success and prevent weight regain.
The speed of results can vary based on the specific prescription medications used and your starting body weight. Patients typically notice significant weight loss within the first few weeks of treatment. Results are considered fully realized when you reach your personal, goal-oriented, healthy weight. The duration of weight loss is sustainable through chronic weight management and ongoing support. The results include a slimmer physique and significant improvements in key health markers, such as blood pressure and cholesterol.

The prescription weight loss medications we use are FDA-approved for chronic weight management. When taken under the careful guidance and monitoring of our experienced providers, they are a safe and effective tool to help you lose weight. We discuss potential risks and benefits thoroughly during your consultation.
Weight management is often a long-term process. The duration of your treatment plan will depend on your individual needs, your weight loss goals, and how your body responds to the prescription drugs. Our goal is sustained weight loss, which may require ongoing, managed treatment.
Having weight-related health problems is often a key reason to start this treatment. We carefully review your health conditions and other medications you are taking to ensure the prescribed medication is safe and beneficial. This treatment can often lead to improvements in conditions like high blood pressure and elevated blood sugar.
Stopping the medication may increase the risk of regaining the weight. We work with you to develop a plan for either long-term medication maintenance or a carefully managed transition to maintain your new body weight through diet and healthy eating habits alone. This decision is always made in consultation with your provider.
All patients who would like to be evaluated for treatment with GLP-1 require a consultation; he consultation fee is $75. If the patient is eligible for treatment and proceeds with a same-day injection, the consultation fee is applied to the cost of the first 4 weeks of treatment.
Once it has been determined that the patient is a good candidate, the patient has two options: self-administering the injection at home or practitioner-administering in the office.
Self-administering patients will have an in-office consultation. The $75 consultation fee is non-refundable and is required at the time of scheduling. If the patient is a candidate and wishes to proceed with treatment, the costs are the following:
*The medication costs are the same; however, a $25/injection fee will be charged if the provider is administering. The patient can convert to a self-administering patient at any time during the treatment period.
To continue receiving the medication and the prescription weight loss program, patients will need to comply with monthly in-office visits. Failure to comply will result in discontinuation of the program and medication not being refilled.
We will not accept insurance for GLP-1. Payment is due in full at the time of service. Fees associated with GLP-1 and prescription weight loss will not be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. Prescriptions are non-returnable and non-refundable.
