The Wisconsin Institute of Plastic Surgery (WIPS) marked an exciting milestone as it broke ground on its new state-of-the-art facility in Appleton, Wisconsin, in August 2024. The event, held at 4100 N. Lightning Drive, signaled a transformative shift in the healthcare landscape for the Fox Cities region.
Dr. Tina Sauerhammer, the driving force behind WIPS, conveyed her enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing her dedication to providing personalized, innovative, and high-quality care. Dr. Sauerhammer expressed her aim to establish a practice that delivers an elevated experience, setting a new standard for the area. Drawing on her extensive academic and private medical background, she recognized an unmet need in the community for advanced healthcare services.
A Dedication to Cutting-Edge Medical Care
The new facility, which will house the Wisconsin Institute of Ambulatory Surgery, is set to offer cutting-edge medical care. Dr. Sauerhammer, who has carefully selected her team, stressed the importance of delivering exceptional service to patients, stating that the building reflects the quality of the people within it.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several prominent community figures, including UW-Green Bay Chancellor Mike Alexander, who acknowledged Dr. Sauerhammer’s accomplishments. Chancellor Alexander noted Dr. Sauerhammer’s connection to the institution and her commitment to her field and the community, as demonstrated by the new surgery center.
Becky Bartoszek, President and CEO of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, also shared her excitement for the project. Bartoszek emphasized the vital role of healthcare in the economy and the new surgery center’s potential to enhance the community. She also highlighted the importance of expanding healthcare services to attract top talent to the region.
More Than Just Surgery: Comprehensive Care for Patients
The new surgery center will also allow Dr. Sauerhammer to offer services that weren’t previously available since the practice has been based in a hospital setting. For example, patients can now receive additional treatments, such as laser therapy or microneedling with radiofrequency, in conjunction with their surgeries. This ensures a more comprehensive and streamlined experience—and this integration of services is a key part of Dr. Sauerhammer’s vision for patient-centered care.
A Collaborative Effort in Pursuit of a Vision
The facility is being constructed in partnership with Consolidated Construction Company, with Somerville Architects and Engineers responsible for the design. The 8,700-square-foot space will include a state-of-the-art plastic surgery clinic and an operating room, providing the community with an advanced medical resource. Paul LaPree, Director of Business Development at Consolidated Construction, highlighted the collaborative efforts involved in the project, noting that the partnership between WIPS, Somerville, and Consolidated was crucial to bringing the vision to life.
Set to open in Spring 2025, the new facility promises to elevate the standard of healthcare in the region, offering surgical and non-surgical treatments and dermatology services. Learn more about the services and procedures provided by the Wisconsin Institute of Plastic Surgery.
