Dr. Tina Sauerhammer

Dr. Tina Sauerhammer is incredibly grateful for the opportunities her career as a plastic surgeon affords her and her patients. Every day, she helps women and men in Appleton and Green Bay move past cosmetic challenges, take control of their physical identity, and live their lives the way they have always wanted.

Dr. Sauerhammer offers patients nearly a decade of experience and specialization in rejuvenating procedures for the body, breasts, and face. Her practice also includes pediatric plastic surgery, transgender confirmation, reconstructive procedures, and noninvasive cosmetic treatment. She is double-board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.



Commitment to Excellence

A child prodigy who began college at age 14, Dr. Sauerhammer is the youngest graduate ever of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the University of Wisconsin Medical School. She is also a former Miss Wisconsin and second runner-up to Miss America. Her accomplishments have been profiled on CNN, CBS Early Show, Inside Edition, and PBS as well as in People magazine.

Dr. Sauerhammer is one of the only female plastic surgeons in Appleton and Green Bay and the only fellowship-trained craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgeon in Northeast Wisconsin. A young mother of two who grew up in the community, she understands the aesthetic concerns her patients face and is personally invested in their goals.

Professional Experience

Before founding Wisconsin Institute of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Sauerhammer practiced for several years in Green Bay. Prior to this position, she served as a plastic surgeon, director of the Global Health Initiative and co-director of burn services with Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington, DC.

A frequent lecturer and presenter, Dr. Sauerhammer has spoken before the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, International Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, and the Children’s National Medical Center. She is a current board member of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Council of Trustees, the University of Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association and the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation. Her scholarly work has been accepted into the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, among other publications.


Education and Training

After finishing medical school and competing for the Miss America title, Dr. Sauerhammer completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. A rotation in plastic surgery ignited her passion for the field.

Dr. Sauerhammer went on to attend a plastic surgery fellowship at the Lahey Clinic, where she trained at the Harvard hospitals. She was a member of the team that performed the first full-face transplant in the country. This led to a fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center, where she held a full-time position before entering practice in Northeast Wisconsin.

While Dr. Sauerhammer’s training as a plastic surgeon has taken her to the most prestigious institutions in the nation, she is originally from the Green Bay area. She enjoys the opportunity to practice in her hometown community.

In her personal time, Dr. Sauerhammer’s activities include barre, traveling, and dining, and she is an accomplished cellist and pianist. She frequently takes part in philanthropic events and, as a former Miss Wisconsin, continues to judge state-level competitions. Above all, she loves spending time with her husband, Kyle, and their two young daughters, Sofie and Stella.
